Expedia CruiseShipCenters is expanding its training with the International Cruise Academy program. "We've engineered our training around the five essential skills that agents need to succeed: product knowledge, marketing, professional sales, customer service and operations. Regardless of experience, even for our Diamond agents selling over $1 million a year, I guarantee that there is more to learn," said Fred Mercer, director of consultant development.
Expedia CruiseShipCenters is using technology to expand its learning resources. Updates to the printed manuals are supported with online learning modules, a video library and webinars. Agents can access all of these resources including the various cruise line learning academies directly from CruiseDesk, the Expedia CruiseShipCenters' CRM system.
The Consultant Development team is also responsible for delivering live training events such as the exclusive Cruise to Success Super Seminar being held in conjunction with cruise3sixty in Vancouver. The afternoon event includes key note presentations from senior industry executives including Jan Swartz, executive vice president sales and customer service, Princess Cruises; Michael Hirsh, senior vice president, sales, Oceania Cruises; and Alex Sharpe vice president, Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Also on the agenda is an industry panel moderated by Geraldine Ree, senior vice president, sales and marketing for Expedia CruiseShipCenters with executives from the major cruise lines providing their insight.
"Four-hundred Expedia CruiseShipCenters agents are attending the training," said Mercer. "It's just more proof of our commitment to having the best-trained people in the business and that our agents are always hungry to learn more."
