Travelers based in the Midwest will have easier access to dozens of destinations this spring, thanks to American Airlines’ latest route expansion.

The carrier, which recently announced big plans for its Dallas hub, is adding 100 new daily departures from its hub at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), and the new flights launch just in time for spring break getaways.

American plans to add flights to more than 75 destinations and double the number of flights from ORD to popular domestic spring break destinations, including Las Vegas (LAS); Panama City, Florida (ECP); and Sarasota, Florida (SRQ). The airline will also more than double service to Savannah, Georgia (SAV), and San Francisco (SFO) compared to its original 2026 schedule.

Other key markets seeing additional flights include Boston (BOS); Cincinnati, Ohio (CVG); Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW); Fort Myers, Florida (RSW); and Orlando, Florida (MCO).

With the additional flights, American will operate its largest-ever schedule on record from Chicago, with a total of more than 500 departing flights every day during the spring season, a 30% increase from 2025.

“We’re committed to rebuilding our Chicago hub to be stronger and more compelling for our customers, and our 2026 plans are both emblematic of that objective and an exciting way to end a year defined by bold growth and investment at ORD,” said Steve Johnson, American’s vice chair and chief strategy officer.

In addition to the new spring break flights, the carrier is also expanding its summer schedule from ORD to Dublin and Paris. Seasonal service from Chicago to Dublin (DUB) in 2026 will operate for a month longer than in 2025. Similarly, seasonal flights from Chicago to Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) in Paris will operate for an additional three months compared to the 2025 schedule.

The expanded service is part of a broader strategy at American to expand and enhance its operations in Chicago, its third-largest hub. The carrier made numerous investments at ORD throughout 2025, including acquiring two new gates at the airport and the addition of 29 new destinations to markets like Cedar Rapids, Iowa (CID); Bloomington, Illinois (BMI); and Flint, Michigan (FNT).
