Travel advisors can rest easy when dealing with American Airlines.
American has extended its New Distribution Capability (NDC) commission through the end of the year. The program pays 10 percent commission on NDC bookings. It had been scheduled to expire on September 30.
The carrier, one of the largest in the United States and in the world, had just reengaged the NDC program in June.
"Continuous pricing is where the industry is going, and it creates a great incentive to utilize NDC. It's great for customers," Scott Laurence, American's vice president of partnerships and retailing, said.
"They see the lowest fares. It is hard to look at that and not think it has potential to be a really effective product for American," Laurence continued.
Laurence declined to reveal more details about continuous pricing.
It is unknown if American will renew the program again at the end of the year.
