Travelers have a new way to get from the Southern United States to South America starting this summer, thanks to Avianca’s latest route launch.

The Colombian carrier has just started new nonstop service from Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport (DFW) to Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG). Flights on the new route will clock in at just under six hours and operate four times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Flights will depart DFW at 2:50 p.m. and arrive in the Colombian capital at 8:15 p.m. On the return leg to the U.S., flights will depart Bogota at 7:30 a.m. and arrive in Dallas at 1:20 p.m.

Avianca will use an Airbus A320 plane to operate the flights, outfitted with 180 seats across two cabins, which include business class and an economy cabin. Fares on the new route are on sale, and flights began operating on May 27.

With the new service, the airline now offers 19 nonstop routes between the U.S. and Colombia, with flights to nine U.S. gateways, including Miami, Chicago, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Washington D.C., Tampa, Orlando, New York, in addition to DFW. The airline also operates several fifth freedom flights between the U.S. and other destinations in Latin America. Earlier in 2025, it launched new routes from Miami to San Jose, Costa Rica, and Guatemala City.

The carrier will operate more than 170 weekly flights between the U.S. and Colombia in June 2025, according to Avianca’s CEO Frederico Pedreira. “This growth not only broadens our service options for travelers, but also strengthens our position as one of the leading airlines in the region,” Pedreira said.

In recent years, Colombia has seen an influx of travelers, particularly from the U.S. The destination is popular with nature travelers for its biodiversity, access to the Amazon, and unique bird-watching opportunities.

In 2024, Colombia welcomed more than 6.8 million tourists, its highest-ever number of travelers, according to tourism organization ProColombia. Travelers from the U.S. made up the largest share of the country’s visitors, according to ProColombia’s data, and Colombia is the No. 1 destination in South America among U.S. travelers.
