To celebrate the 2024 College Football Playoff National
Championship, Delta
Air Lines announced it would add more flights and capacity to Houston to
meet the demand of fans traveling to the game.
The game will showcase the No. 1 Michigan Wolverines (14-0) squaring
off against the No. 2 Washington Huskies (14-0) on January 8 at NRG Stadium in Texas.
To meet the increased demand from college
football fans heading to the National Championship Game, Delta is launching
a route from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport to Houston’s William P.
Hobby Airport.
In addition, the airline’s existing route to Houston’s
George Bush Intercontinental Airport will provide Wolverines fans with even
more convenient travel options.
For Huskies fans, the carrier revealed that it would
introduce a new temporary route between George Bush Intercontinental and Seattle-Tacoma
International Airport, but the flights have limited availability due to high
demand.
Travelers not lucky enough to witness the 2024 National
Championship in person will still be able to watch it on Delta planes equipped
with live satellite TVs. Passengers flying over the Continental United States
during the January 8 game will not miss a touchdown as they watch from the comfort
of their seats.
In December, Delta announced the expansion of its digital
identification program to three more airports: Los Angeles International,
John F. Kennedy and La Guardia airports. The program promises to be touch-free
and to get travelers through the airport quicker.
