Delta Air Lines announced plans to expand its flight network
in the western United States with new nonstop service between Salt Lake City
and Flagstaff, Arizona, beginning next summer.
Delta said the route will launch June 7, 2027, and operate
twice daily year-round.
The new service will connect Salt Lake City International
Airport with Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, with flights operating under the Delta
Connection brand through SkyWest Airlines using CRJ-550 aircraft.
The airline highlighted Flagstaff’s outdoor recreation,
historic downtown, and reputation for stargazing as draws for visitors, with
Sedona also nearby. In addition, the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is
roughly 90 minutes away.
The planned expansion is part of Delta’s growth from Salt
Lake City, with the airline recently announcing new nonstop flights from the
Utah hub to Santa Rosa/Sonoma County and Monterey, with those routes launching
in October and December, respectively.
In September, Flagstaff Pulliam Airport received an $800,000
federal grant designed to help attract additional nonstop service, according to
AZFamily.com.
