Delta Air Lines is joining a growing list of U.S. companies that are offering to match federal contributions to Trump Accounts for their eligible workforce.
The Atlanta-based carrier has pledged to match the $1,000 opening deposit from the U.S. Treasury with its own $1,000 payment for employees’ eligible children.
“Delta people have made it clear they want to take advantage of every opportunity to build a solid financial foundation for themselves and their families,” said E.V.P. and Chief People Officer Allison Ausband. “This match is the latest in our ongoing commitment to invest in our people and their financial wellbeing through profit sharing, base pay raises, our Emergency Savings Program and more."
Trump Accounts, formerly called 530A accounts, are a new tax-deferred savings scheme for U.S. children under 18 years old. The federal $1,000 deposit is limited to children born from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2028.
So far, about 1.4 million children enrolled for the accounts qualify for the federal $1,000 deposit, according to CNBC.
Delta is the second major U.S. airline to match the initial $1,000 government contribution. American Airlines announced earlier this week that it would offer to match the seed deposit for employees’ families.
CNBC says that more than 50 companies have made similar pledges to match the federal deposit for employees with children who meet the requirements.
