The FAA has announced plans to pause all flights at Reagan National Airport (DCA) in Washington D.C. on August 23 due to the Freedom 250 Grand Prix IndyCar race happening that day.
Arrivals and departures will be stopped at DCA from 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on August 23, according to a report from Reuters.
The IndyCar race will take place on the streets of the nation’s capital from August 21-23 in honor of America’s 250th birthday. The race course will veer close to the National Mall.
The FAA has periodically paused flight operations at Reagan National Airport several times this summer due to America 250 events, including an almost total closure of the hub on July 4 to support the capital’s momentous Independence Day celebrations.
Travelers who have questions about their flights should contact their airline for more information.
