Flying into Hollywood just got a little more glamorous.
Southern California’s Hollywood-Burbank Airport (BUR) has just opened a brand new passenger terminal.
The Burbank airport, which sits about 14 miles north of Los Angeles, is beloved by travelers for its convenient and low-stress atmosphere.
Airport officials say the new facility strives to preserve that energy while adding new modern amenities and increasing space.
New upgrades like valet parking inside the airport parking structure, a bar overlooking the airfield, and rotating installations from local artists.
The new terminal also preserves Burbank’s retro tradition of outdoor boarding, “a feature increasingly rare in commercial aviation,” according to an airport release.
The first flight departed BUR’S new terminal on October 13: an Alaska Airlines flight to Santa Rosa, California.
The building also has enhanced safety features, including an increased distance between the runways and terminal, an earthquake-resilient design in line with modern guidelines, and updates to ADA accessibility standards.
"The new terminal delivers the convenient, traveler-friendly experience that has long set Hollywood Burbank Airport apart, while providing modern infrastructure designed to serve the region for decades to come,” says the airport’s Executive Director John Hatanaka.
