Next Monday will be one of the cheapest days all summer to fly internationally

According to Expedia’s 2026 Summer Travel Outlook, the most affordable days for international flights this summer are August 17 and August 11.

But if you haven’t yet scored a cheap flight to Europe, the Caribbean, or somewhere else abroad, you’re not completely out of luck for this summer.

In fact, the entire month of August is the most affordable month of the year to travel, according to Expedia, with flights that are nearly 30% cheaper on average compared to December, which tends to be the most expensive travel month. That adds up to roughly $120 in savings per ticket.

There’s still time to book a last-minute, late-summer international trip with affordable airfare.

In fact, last-minute travelers can also find better deals on international itineraries. “For those bold travelers, booking 8–15 days ahead can offer the best value, saving an average of $225” for international flights, Expedia’s report says.

Using Google Flights’ Explore tool, we’ve uncovered reasonable international airfares from airports throughout the U.S. that depart throughout the remainder of August.

If dropping everything for a sudden vacation in late August isn’t possible, we found that many of these prices seem to be holding steady through September as well.

Here’s a look at 11 roundtrip, nonstop international flights with affordable fares departing in August 2026:

  • New York (JFK) to Bermuda, from $387 with American Airlines
  • New York (JFK) to Sint Maarten, from $332 with JetBlue (Be aware that August is the middle of hurricane season in the Caribbean)
  • New York (JFK) to Dublin, from $654 with Aer Lingus
  • Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Mexico City, from $405 with American Airlines
  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu, from $333 with American Airlines or Alaska Airlines (Not an international flight, but it’s domestic long-haul)
  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo, from $785 with Zipair
  • Chicago (ORD) to Reykjavik, Iceland, from $480 with Icelandair
  • Boston (BOS) to Barcelona, from $546 with Level
  • Boston (BOS) to Bridgetown, Barbados, from $452 with JetBlue
  • Miami (MIA) to Nassau, Bahamas, from $311 with American Airlines
  • Miami (MIA) to San Jose, Costa Rica, from $427 with American

To search affordable international flights in August from your home airport, go to the Google Flights landing page and click the Explore button. Enter your airport in the search bar and set the destination to “anywhere.” Destinations and the lowest available airfares will then populate the map. All you have to do is choose where to go.
