Nonetheless, Southwest Airlines is investigating why a female passenger was lying down inside an overhead bin prior to the takeoff of a recent flight.
The overhead bin space inside an airplane cabin and the wheel wells outside the fuselage seem to be inviting taboo places for some people to take pictures. But it’s not allowed.
Apparently, the flight attendants were not immediately aware that she was lying down inside the luggage compartment in the plane and continued with the boarding process and welcoming passengers aboard.
Southwest Airlines sent an email to USA Today and said it is looking into the situation. The incident happened earlier this month on a flight from Albuquerque to Phoenix.
A passenger who recorded the incident said other passengers did not seem to be rattled by the resting passenger and said they were “just casually walking past her.”
A flight attendant removed the woman from the overhead bin, but it is not known if she was taken off the plane.
Airlines are debating whether or not to put advertisements on overhead bins. But not people.
