This can’t be good.
Then again, it never is when a high-ranking government official is arrested.
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Assistant
Federal Security Director Maxine McManaman was arrested in Atlanta
last week by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The
Assistant Federal Security Director had an outstanding warrant.
McManaman
and an accomplice were charged with falsifying the documents of an aging
relative who suffered from dementia. Her arrest warrant was posted
by the St. Lucie County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office.
Prosecutors
allege that McManaman and her accomplice forged the relative's signature to
transfer ownership of a piece of property.
McManaman
has been charged with third-degree forgery. Adding irony to the saga is that
she was arrested as she stepped off a plane in Atlanta.
"TSA
holds its employees to the highest professional and ethical
standards and has no tolerance for misconduct on or off duty," a TSA
spokesperson said in the statement to local outlet FOX 5 Atlanta. "Any
employee who fails to meet our fundamental ethical standards is held accountable."
McManaman
has been placed on leave by the TSA pending the outcome of an investigation.
