Ever wondered what it's really like to fly a budget airline? You know, the ones that charge you for everything so that you can get a super-low airfare? One intrepid traveler has tried them out so that you don't have to and she reported about it in the L.A. Times.
Jenn Harris flew Allegiant, Norwegian, Spirit Airlines, Thomas Cook and Wow and gave each of them a grade, rating them on several criteria, including seats, customer service, food, price and savings.
Allegiant scored a B-plus, receiving high marks for comfort and customer service.
For Norwegian, she gave the airline an A-minus, loving the plane amenities, the good customer service and the overall comfort.
"Not knowing there was a charge for blankets, I asked an attendant for one. He let me know they weren't free, but then gave me one at no charge," she said about the staff.
Spirit did not fare as well. Harris gave the airline a C-minus and found the plane dirty and the carrier unhelpful when the flight was delayed.
Thomas Cook received a B but Wow fared the poorest, receiving a grade of D.
