A Colorado service member's anticipated return home following a six-month deployment was literally dampened Friday.
According to Denver7, David Harris was met with a wet, stinky bag after his United Airlines flight landed in Colorado Springs this week.
Harris said someone at baggage claim told him it was the result of a lavatory leak on the plane.
"I just got back from deployment. My whole life for six months is in that bag. My uniforms are in there, all my workout clothes, gifts for my family, jewelry I had bought for my wife," he told Denver7.
Harris has since reached out to United but was told it could take up to eight to 10 weeks for his claim to be processed.
"We have been in touch with the customer to apologize and compensate him for the damage to his bags. We are also looking into this situation to further understand what happened," an airline representative said in a statement to Denver7.
A photo posted to Twitter Friday night showed Harris placing his luggage in plastic bags.
