For superstitious travelers, taking to the sky on Friday the 13th is terrifying enough.
On Friday, Finnair Flight 666 departed for HEL, the code for Finland's Helsinki Airport. According to WPVI-TV, the ominous flight took off from Copenhagen Airport at 1:18 p.m. local time (7:18 a.m. ET) and was scheduled to land in the Finnish capital around 3:55 p.m. (9:55 a.m. ET).

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Finland's flag carrier has operated a Flight 666 to HEL on the unluckiest of days. In fact, a spokesman for the airline told RT that it's operated 21 of these flights to Helsinki on the allegedly cursed day over the past 11 years.
The spokesman points out that the flight number, airport code and date have never scared away passengers.
At least one passenger on Friday's flight appeared to embrace the "number of the beast."
However, a reshuffling of flight data means that Friday's special flight will be the last. Flight 666 will become Flight 954, much to the chagrin of Halloween fans.
"It has been quite a joke among the pilots," Finnair pilot Juha-Pekka told the Associated Press in Helsinki prior to a Flight 666 to HEL on September 13, 2013. "I'm not a superstitious man. It's only a coincidence for me."

Finnair's most recent Flight 666 to Helsinki on Friday the 13th took place this past January. Still, there's something slightly more sinister about a Flight 666 to HEL on a Friday the 13th in October.
