The storm system expected to bring heavy rain and wind to the East Coast is already impacting the Mid-Atlantic, with tornado warnings being issued from Florida to Maryland.
According to FlightAware.com, over 1,100 flights within, into or out of the United States were canceled Friday and another 3,900-plus have been delayed. Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina was the facility most impacted by the storm so far.

While the south continues to recover from massive storms over the last week, the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast are preparing for the heavy rain and strong winds associated with the weather system approaching Friday.
According to Weather.com, the Mid-Atlantic will be the first to get hit by the storm system, with the area between Virginia and the Carolinas contending with severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon into the evening.
The entire East Coast is expected to deal with heavy rain and potential flooding Friday night into Saturday morning, with flood watches being issued by the National Weather Service from Virginia to Maine.
According to FlightAware.com, only 65 flights within, into or out of the United States were canceled Friday morning and another 390-plus have been delayed. The disruptions follow around 337 flights canceled Thursday and another 480 canceled Wednesday.

As a strong storm system moves toward the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, United Airlines has joined Delta by waiving change fees for customers at impacted airports.
United's travel advisory is for Friday and applies to airports in Baltimore, Boston, Hartford, Newark, New York's Kennedy and LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Providence, Washington D.C.'s Dulles and National, and White Plains.

After a week of sunshine and warm temperatures, the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast are preparing for a storm system set to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, gusty winds and travel disruptions during Easter weekend.
According to AccuWeather.com, the storms are expected to begin dumping heavy rain from the Mid-Atlantic to New England Thursday night into Friday morning, with the weather system stalling along the coast and resulting in potential flooding.
The storms should clear out by Sunday afternoon for travelers visiting family on Easter.
The thunderstorms and gusty winds will likely have an impact on travel, with roadways being slick and limited visibility reported along the East Coast. Flights are also expected to be impacted, with at least one airline already issuing travel advisories for the storm.
Delta Air Lines is waiving change fees for customers scheduled to fly Friday through the airports most likely to be impacted by the weather, including facilities in Baltimore, Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
Travelers are being asked to contact their airlines to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
