Carnival Cruise Line has announced that Carnival Spirit will homeport in Brisbane in 2020. It's the line's first home port in Brisbane, where a new cruise terminal is in the works.
Carnival Spirit will sail year-round to the tropical archipelagos of Vanuatu and New Caledonia. She'll also offer shorter cruises to popular destinations in North Queensland.
"Queenslanders have embraced Carnival's free-spirited, family-friendly fun since our arrival in 2012. Since then, we have welcomed nearly 75,000 Queenslanders on Carnival cruises from Sydney and Melbourne. We're delighted to announce that with the new cruise terminal we'll be able to offer Queenslanders the opportunity to sail on Carnival right from their doorstep," said Jennifer Vandekreeke, Carnival Cruise Line vice president, Australia.
Carnival Spirit features 12 decks with attractions that include Green Thunder, the fastest and steepest waterslide at sea. The ship has three swimming pools plus the adults-only Serenity Retreat. She also features more than 20 bars, lounges, and dining options.
Carnival Spirit's 2020 Brisbane itineraries will be announced mid-June 2018. Bookings open in in early July 2018.
Carnival Legend, the sister ship to Carnival Spirit, returns to Australia in October 2018 after her summer Alaska season. Carnival Splendor joins the Australian Carnival fleet in December 2019. She'll become the newest and largest ship homeported year-round in Australia.
