Travelers sailing to Alaska this summer with Cunard will have a chance to hear from a variety of experts in space exploration, geography, filmmaking, photography and more through the cruise line’s partnership with the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.
Cunard shared the speaker line-up for its 2024 Alaska season on the Queen Elizabeth, which will feature an expert from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society on every sailing. The season runs from June to September.
"Cunard is committed to not only exploring the beauty and rich culture of the region but also providing inspiring educational experiences for guests during the time they spend with us,” says Katie McAlister, Cunard’s president.
Cunard first launched the partnership with the Royal Canadian Geographical Society in Alaska last year. Guests shared “phenomenal feedback” about the offering, McAlister adds, so the cruise line was excited to continue the collaboration in 2024.
Experts joining the voyages include:
- Brian and Dee Keating, wilderness adventures and naturalists
- Andrew Fuestel, a professional astronaut who worked for NASA for 23 years
- Patricia Sims, a documentary filmmaker, naturalist and founder of World Elephant Day
- Russell Potter, an author and historian who specializes in the lost Franklin Arctic expedition of 1845
- George Kourounis, an explorer and adventurer who contributes to the Discovery Channel and the Weather Network
- Lynn Moorman, a geographer and educator who lectures on glaciers, fjords and geographic technologies
- Jill Heinerth, an underwater diver, explorer, author and educator who specializes in coastal environments
- David Gray, a naturalist, photographer, adventurer and former host of the daily morning program "The Calgary Eyeopener" radio show in Canada.
In addition to the Royal Canadian Geographical Society speakers, other experts will also be onboard, including Alex Debogorski from History Channel's reality TV show "Ice Road Truckers" and Caroline Hamilton, part of the first all-woman team to ski to the North and South Pole, to name a few.
