Norwegian Cruise Line is pulling back the curtain on the sixth and final ship in its Prima Class.
Norwegian Bella is scheduled to begin sailing seven-day Mediterranean itineraries from Barcelona, Spain, in May 2028. Norwegian Bella’s inaugural season will include calls in Rome, Florence and Salerno, Italy; Marseille, France; and Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
The approximately 1,129-foot-long vessel will measure 170,000 gross tons and accommodate 3,921 guests at double occupancy. It will join Norwegian Aura, scheduled for delivery in May 2027, as the largest ships in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet.
“Norwegian Bella marks a milestone moment in our fleet as the culmination of our award-winning Prima Class,” says Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
He adds that the ship incorporates guest feedback and the class’s existing features, with an emphasis on outdoor spaces, family-friendly attractions and venues for relaxation.
Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri is building Norwegian Bella and Norwegian Aura. Their interior designs are being developed by AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC Design and Studio Dado.
With Norwegian Bella set to sail in Europe and Norwegian Aura scheduled to operate in the Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line plans to introduce its newest onboard experiences in two major cruise markets.
Norwegian Bella will feature Ocean Heights, a multilevel outdoor activity complex spanning decks 18 through 21. Attractions will include waterslides, a ropes course, a carnival-inspired games area, a nine-hole mini golf course and a harness-free adventure course. The complex will also feature lighting and LED projections that transform the space into an evening entertainment hub.
Ocean Boulevard, the ship’s outdoor promenade on deck eight, will include infinity pools, hot tubs, an outdoor bar and additional seating compared with the versions aboard Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. Dedicated play areas will cater to children ages 2 to 10, while teens will have their own gathering space.
The pool deck will be more than 15 percent larger than those aboard Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. Additional features will include an interactive splash area for children, two family-friendly waterslides and Horizon Park, an outdoor space for lounging and lawn games. Adults seeking a quieter retreat can visit Vibe Beach Club, an adults-only area with infinity hot tubs, daybeds and an oceanfront bar.
The ship will offer nearly 2,000 staterooms, including inside accommodations, studio staterooms for solo travelers and balcony rooms. It will also feature 159 suites in The Haven by Norwegian, the cruise line’s keycard-access, ship-within-a-ship concept.
Designed by Piero Lissoni, The Haven will be located at the aft of the vessel and feature a private sundeck with an infinity pool, two hot tubs, an outdoor sauna and a cold room. Guests will also have access to a private restaurant, bar and lounge, along with 24-hour butler and concierge service.
Norwegian Bella will feature original hull artwork by Australian contemporary artist George Rose, whose work includes colorful murals and botanical compositions. Rose has collaborated with cultural institutions and brands internationally, including the STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam, the Australian Embassy in Indonesia, Instagram, Nike and TikTok.
“Designing the hull art for Norwegian Bella was an opportunity to capture the sense of wonder that travel inspires,” Rose says. She adds that the design uses vibrant colors, organic forms and movement to reflect exploration and discovery.
