Norwegian Cruise Line is going back down under to Australia and New Zealand. The cruise line will send its Norwegian Jewel for a second season in 2018 and 2019 and bookings are already open.
“Norwegian Jewel’s Australia and New Zealand sailings have received a great deal of anticipation and excitement from guests both locally and internationally,” said Andy Stuart president and chief executive officer for Norwegian Cruise Line, in a press release.
“The region is a bucket-list destination for many of our guests with a warm culture, lush lands, sandy beaches, action-packed adventure and more. We are thrilled to be returning to this dream destination with the iconic Norwegian Jewel looking as if she were a brand new ship.”
The Jewel will undergo an extensive three-week dry-dock refurbishment in late October 2018 to prepare. The ship-wide revitalization will take place in Singapore as part of the line’s multi-million-dollar Norwegian Edge enhancement program.
Once complete, the ship will showcase the best of Australia, calling on such iconic destinations as Melbourne, Cairns and Hobart; as well as New Zealand with stops at the likes of Milford Sound, Wellington and Tauranga. Other itineraries will feature the South Pacific and Southeast Asia, and a transpacific cruise will even head from Vancouver to Tokyo (Yokohama).
The transpacific one will be a longer 19-day trip by way of Alaska and Russia. Another 19-day cruise will depart Singapore for Australia with visits to Bali and Komodo Island along the way. Plus, there will be a new 13-day South Pacific route and the return of popular circuits around Australia and New Zealand from Sydney, such as a seven-day roundtrip to Tasmania.

The Jewel serves up Norwegian’s signature plethora of dining choices—15 in all—containing Cagney’s Steakhouse, Le Bistro and Teppanyaki. Watering holes and lounges like the Sugarcane Mojito Bar, Maltings Whiskey Bar and, of course, a poolside offering are equally as extensive.
Other onboard diversions extend to acrobatic entertainment in Le Cirque Bijou; basketball, dodgeball, tennis and volleyball at the sports complex; Zumba and yoga classes and pampering treatments at the Mandara Spa and Thermal Suite. Children have their own space too at their own pool and Splash Academy complete with an award-winning youth program.
Many accommodation choices are also available onboard the Jewel with everything from inside options and balcony staterooms to connecting cabins and family suites. The creme de la creme, though, is The Haven by Norwegian, where the ship’s grandest suites and villas are reserved, as well as a dedicated courtyard, whirlpools and private deck. Exclusive concierge services are also made ready here.
