Many children have fantasized about sailing the open seas as a wild and unkempt pirate, but Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington, is offering people the opportunity to take a voyage on two classic wooden tall ships.

According to Skamania Lodge, the destination hotel is offering the once-in-a-lifetime chance for customers to book a two-hour trip on the Columbia River on one of two custom-built ships made to replicate vessels from maritime history.

The two ships include the Lady Washington, an 18th century tall ship replica, and Hawaiian Chieftain, an interpretation of a typical early 19th century trading vessel. Each ship will sail twice daily from Port of Skamania County on Thursday, July 16 and Friday, July 17.

The first voyage of each ship during the day is more of a leisurely cruise meant to give passengers the experience of sailing the river in a tall ship. On the other hand, the second sailing each day features a staged battle between the two ships complete with cannon fire.

When choosing which ship to book a seat on, the two vessels are very different. While the Lady Washington is a traditionally built replica that appeared in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the Hawaiian Chieftain was originally built for cargo trade.

Onboard the sail boats, passengers will be able to re-live history while learning about how the ships were made, how they sail on the open water and what the crew did-and what songs they sang-during their long voyages.

The tickets for the trips on the Columbia River are $65 for passengers 12 years and older, $45 for passengers ages two to 11 years old and free for children under two years old.

Regardless of how old a guest is, though, sailing on a pirate ship would make us all kids again.
