Royal Caribbean International, which planned to introduce the new Dynamic Dining program on the Oasis of the Seas on March 14, has put that expansion on hold. No new target date has been set, but the company said in a statement it will be "later this year."
Introduced on Quantum of the Seas, the flexible dining program essentially does away with the mammoth main dining room and lets guests eat when and where they choose. In October, Oasis of the Seas emerged from a dry-dock renovation that divided its three-story main dining room into three complimentary venues - American Icon Grill, which will offer regional comfort food favorites; Silk, which will have a pan-Asian menu; and The Grande, an elegant restaurant where every night is formal night. Until the March 14 launch, the three restaurants were to continue serving traditional menus.
The roll-out of Dynamic Dining was to continue on sister ship Allure of the Seas, which is getting the same restaurants in a dry-dock renovation in May.
Royal Caribbean announced the delay on its website. When asked to elaborate, Royal Caribbean issued another statement that said it is continuing to evaluate feedback from its customers.
"As we continue to collect guests' feedback and put the finishing touches on Dynamic Dining aboard Quantum-class ships, Royal Caribbean International will postpone implementing the cruise line's new concept aboard Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas," the statement said. "Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas' guests will continue to enjoy the cruise line's world-renowned Gold Anchor Service and an expansive menu of delicious dinner options in early and late seating dining - as well as the flexible My Time Dining program - in the ships' main dining rooms, among up to 21 dining options aboard the world's largest and most innovative cruise ships.
There is no target date for implementing Dynamic Dining aboard Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas at this time."
