Victoria Cruises' ongoing partnership with tour operator Globus is continuing for the 2018 Yangtze River cruise season. Globus guests booked on the 12-day Classic China & the Yangtze or 14-day Flavors of China & the Yangtze tours will enjoy four-day cruises with private-balcony accommodations on the five-star Victoria Katarina.
Tour highlights range from the treasures of Beijing's Forbidden City to the Peking Opera, Terra Cotta Warriors and an authentic noodle-making demonstration.
Cruise highlights include onboard activities and authentic cultural entertainment as well as scenic excursions into the heart of China. One example is an 18-mile roundtrip journey aboard a small craft to the Goddess Stream. The Yangtze tributary is home to several protected species of monkeys as well as a variety of Chinese medicinal herbs.
Cruise passengers will also observe the famous Three Gorges from their private balcony or the top deck viewing area. They'll learn about the largest hydroelectric dam project ever undertaken and experience the engineering marvel that is the world's largest ship elevator.
The Three Gorges Dam raised the water level of the Goddess Stream, which was once a brook. It now flows from the southern bank of the Yangtze.
The 12-day Classic China & the Yangtze program is priced from $2,222 per person, double occupancy, exclusive of air.
The expanded Flavors of China & the Yangtze itinerary adds two nights in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hangzhou and the Giant Panda Research Base in Chengdu. The 14-day experience begins at $2,678 per person, double occupancy, excluding air.
Both programs conclude in Shanghai.
