If you have the heart of an explorer, the Wyoming Office of Tourism (WOT) is challenging you to answer the "Call of the WY," a six-week adventure through Wyoming's vast wilderness and landscapes.
And while epic travel adventure promotions have become somewhat commonplace in tourism marketing, this one comes with a couple of twists.
First, there are no cushy hotel accommodations for the selected adventurer. Instead, the winner will be road tripping around the state with their own mobile, 200-square-foot tiny house. And second, the winner should also be prepared to have HGTV chronicle their adventures.
"This promotion combines the three trends of tiny house living, road trips, and authentic experiences," said Diane Shober, executive director of Wyoming Office of Tourism. "And there's no better way to have an immersive experience in the place we call home than to travel through Wyoming for six weeks."
The winner will experience a number of only-in-Wyoming experiences during their mobile adventure, including driving the Beartooth Highway, soaking in natural hot springs in Cody/Yellowstone Country, attending a pow wow in Wind River Country, stargazing near Pinedale and hiking in Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area.
"For those of us lucky enough to live in Wyoming, we understand the things that make it so special," said Wyoming Governor Matt Mead. "The wide-open spaces, the mountains, the outdoor recreation, the beautiful skies, the wildlife and most importantly the people. Visitors to the state get a glimpse of this, but with the 'Call of the WY' promotion, those participating will get to experience the full breadth of why we choose to live in Wyoming."
The "Call of the WY" promotion is just one component of the national "That's WY" tourism marketing campaign for the WOT which was designed to call to "those seeking to unleash an uninhibited spirit of adventure in Wyoming."
"Wyoming is a destination that's ideal for adventure," said Shober. "We know that prospective travelers have Wyoming on their vacation radar because it's a place that remains wild and free and where anything is possible."
The "Call of the WY" will be hosted on HGTV.com and the WOT website. Additionally, commercial spots will air on HGTV.
