The
36th annual edition of the Taste of Cayman Food & Drink Festival,
scheduled for April 12-13, will feature an expanded two-day format incorporating
a Food & Drink Festival and an opening night concert headlined by the Black
Eyed Peas.
The
Taste of Cayman Food & Drink Festival is described as the territory’s
largest and longest-running food and drink festival by the Cayman Islands Tourism
Association (CITA).
The
culinary event began with a small number of restaurants from the Cayman Islands Restaurant Association meeting in a field to
compete in a chili cook-off, said CITA officials.
“Building
on an already fantastic event to include an additional night with expanded
entertainment was a big step in enhancing the Taste festival experience,” said Jay
Ehrhart, CITA’s executive director, “and we made it happen.”
The
Black Eyed Peas will perform at the Festival Green in the Camana Bay
development. The six-time Grammy Award-winning group, featuring band members Will.i.am,
Apl.de.ap and Taboo, have authored multiple hits including “I Gotta Feeling”
and “Boom Boom Pow.”
Meanwhile,
the Food & Drink Festival will highlight “Cayman’s rich and diverse
culinary scene, entertainment and culture, local and international culinary
demos, and food and drink from 25 vendors,” said Ehrhart.
“Add
to that the best of our islands’ mixologists and cooking competitions, local
performances, fireworks and a main stage with a full line-up of music
entertainment, the weekend has a lot to offer,” he added.
Taste
of Cayman ticket bundles are available, enabling visitors to
experience a full weekend of events. Tickets for Friday and Saturday are also
available separately, including general admission, premium and VIP tickets for
Friday night and general admission and VIP for Saturday.
