Family travelers continue to have big dreams.
That’s one of the key messages of the 2024 edition of The Family Travel Report just issued by the global family travel platform Kid & Coe.
Despite inflation and the increasingly harsh realities of climate change, or any other factors that may be making travel more challenging, families still want to show their children the world.
The new report also dives into the most popular destinations among family travelers and identifies what it deems the hippest destinations for those traveling with kids in tow. Here’s a closer look at what the report reveals.

Where are families headed in 2024?
Family travelers still have their sights set on what the report calls “tried and true” destinations. Based on the answers of survey respondents, France and Italy are tied for first place when it comes to 2024 destination choices among families.
Spain and Greece, meanwhile, tied for second most popular among family globetrotters this year. New York City took third place, while California and the UK tied for fourth.

What destinations do families dream about?
Beyond current travel plans, the Kid & Coe survey asked family travelers to identify their dream vacation locations. And the answers revealed that family travelers are truly thinking outside the box.
They’re dreaming about Nicaragua, Qatar, Egypt, Chile, Greenland and Malaysia, according to the report.
“What surprised us most about our respondents’ dream destinations for 2024 was how diverse they are,” says the report. “Is family travel getting more diverse and adventurous? We think it might be.”
Still other family respondents said their ultimate dream destination is Japan, Australia, Hawaii or New Zealand.
“The ultimate family dream destination is more far flung, and more unexpected,” the report explains. “Far fewer choices landed in North America and Europe, with more clustered in Asia and the southern hemisphere.”
Among the other responses were Argentina, Guadeloupe, Morocco and Sweden.

What are the hippest destinations for family travelers?
While it’s not entirely clear whether family travelers are concerned with being hip, the report does identify a few hipster hotspots for those traveling with kiddos.
According to Kid & Coe, France is a popular choice with hipster families. While in the United States, Upstate New York is a favored choice. In fact, the report describes it as “the hottest family travel destination in North America.”
Rounding out this category for those in the know is: UK, The Netherlands (particularly Amsterdam) West Coast USA, Italy and Portugal.
And now finally, drumroll please…Here is the what the report calls, the world’s hippest country for family travel. The winner for 2024 is France.
“Based on our booking data, there’s one clear winner in terms of destinations: France,” says the report. “With more than four times the number of bookings of the two next most popular des-tinations, Italy and Spain, it looks like France is going to be 2024’s hippest destination for traveling families, with Paris as the ultimate hot spot.”
