Curaçao’s 2024 visitor growth is continuing across a traditionally
quiet period, according to Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) officials. The Caribbean
nation hosted an eight percent year-over-year increase in overnight, land-based
visitors in September, which tourism board officials call a “traditionally
slower season month.”
The 49,858 overnight visitors Curaçao hosted in September
2024 included 3,903 additional travelers compared with the same period in 2023.
Curaçao’s visitor growth is being driven in part by U.S. travelers,
the destination’s second-largest market. The country hosted 11,908 U.S. visitors
in September 2024, a 13 percent increase over the 10,497 American travelers to
the country in September of 2023.
Curaçao hosted 17,185 visitors from its largest market, the
Netherlands, in September 2024, a 12 percent year-over-year increase compared
to 15,334 arrivals in September 2023.
American vacationers overwhelmingly prefer hotels and
resorts, according to CTB officials, with 73 percent opting for resort hotels
while staying in the country. Another 27 percent of U.S. visitors opted for “other
types of accommodations,” CTB officials said.
Most U.S. travelers visiting Curaçao in September 2024 were
from New York, New Jersey, and Florida and stayed for 5.8 nights, officials
said.
Through September of 2024, Curaçao hosted 513,875 overnight
arrivals and 592,686 cruise passengers. Combined with visitors on day trips,
the destination hosted 1,126,877 arrivals through September 2024, a 22 percent
increase compared with the same period in 2023.
CTB officials expect the destination to surpass the organization’s
previous target of 670,000 overnight arrivals.
