Travel to India and you will be getting a glimpse at one of the most beautiful countries in the world. CNN honors India's beauty with captivating images of its visual splendor.
"It's a land of otherworldly landscapes -- from stunning lakes and endless rolling plains to the snow-capped Himalayas in the north. It's also home to wild festivals, romantic mausoleums and some of the most hectic cities in the world," writes Maggie Hiufu Wong.
Valley of Flowers National Park is one example.
Tucked away in the Himalayas, "the valley comes alive with blossoms during the hotter months," says Wong.
The country's vivid colors are on display from the mountains all the way to the sea and the island of Agatti.
"Located 460 miles off the coast of Kochi, tiny Agatti island is part of Lakshadweep - India's smallest union territory. Its white sand, diverse coral reefs, and turquoise waters make it the ultimate beach getaway, though tourists need a special permit to visit," writes Wong.

The Sam Sand Dunes show another side of India.
"Sam Sand Dunes, lying in the outskirts of Jaiselmer, is on of the most accessible parts of the Great Thar Desert - or the Sahara of India," says Wong.
