Although Greater Fort Lauderdale is perhaps best known for its scenic beaches and laid-back "flip-flop vibe," the area has long called to creative types as a place where they can freely express themselves.
Now the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors has launched its first Underground Create Map, a curated guide of the many creative hotspots around town.
A product of the Bureau's Film, Music, Fashion & Create division, the Underground Create Map is a comprehensive catalog of the area's arts offerings and includes a detailed overview of live indy music events, festivals, art walks and trolley tours called Underground Stops (U-Stops.)
In addition to the map, the Bureau has organized special offers and discounts at various venues throughout the destination, which visitors can redeem by flashing the brand-new Underground Create Pass (UCP.)
"Greater Fort Lauderdale is known for its beautiful beaches and attractions; however, we have so much more flourishing in the destination," said Noelle P. Stevenson, Vice President, Film, Music & Entertainment, for Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB's Film, Music, Fashion & Create division. "The Underground Create initiative brings forth the destination's unique identity, diversity and edgy 'sense of place,' appealing to tourists and locals with an artsy flair. With the U-Create map and pass, we are showcasing and promoting this market segment as yet another key attraction and product, encompassing Broward's multitude of creative hotspots."
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, the official tourism marketing agency for Broward County, is planning to back up the new guide with a multi-tiered marketing and advertising campaign to drive awareness of the region's creative scene.
The Underground Create Pass (UCP) is joined by the division's Underground Music Pass (UCM,) which provides special offers to music vendors and audiences at clubs, restaurants and concert venues.
Travel professionals interested in selling Greater Fort Lauderdale can sign up for Greater Fort Lauderdale Specialist Program, which provides a detailed overview of the region's attractions, hotels and cruise ports.
