Welcome to vineyard camping at the Alta Colina Vineyard in Paso Robles, California.
Alta Colina partnered with nearby Templeton, California-based Tinker Tin Trailer Company to add a fun new element to its organic estate vineyard. And they've been rewarded for their innovation.
Sunset magazine just honored the vineyard with one of its Best of the West awards in its latest August 2017 issue. The awards honor the top game-changing and stylish destinations and experiences across the 13 Western states as well as British Columbia, Alberta and Western Mexico.
Sleeping in a vintage trailer on a vineyard in the heart of California's Central Coast wine country definitely meets that standard.
"This one-of-a-kind partnership with Tinker Tin allows us to share, in a wholly unique way, the backbone of Alta Colina's foundation: our secluded, award-winning estate vineyard," says Maggie Tillman, Alta Colina co-owner and director of sales and marketing.
"With our breathtaking views, stylish accommodations and our estate wines, we are excited to share this experience during Paso Wine Fest and beyond."
Perched at the edge of a pond in the heart of the vineyard, guests booking the camping experience stay in kitted out trailers that date back to the 1950s and 60s. Each is unique and offers one double bed as well as a kitchen. For example, the 1962 Aristocrat has a gaucho in the front that pulls out into a twin bed and is the only one suitable for three people.

Remember, this is camping and the trailers are missing one major en-suite amenity-bathrooms. (Not to worry, there is a composting toilet on-site as well as a fully plumbed bathroom within a short walking distance.)
The experience includes a complimentary tasting of Alta Colina's Rhone-inspired estate wines and offers additional tours and experiences, including the Summit Vineyard Tasting, Cellar Door Tasting and more.
By far, the best part is waking up in the heart of wine country with unobstructed views of Paso Robles' famous Adelaida District and strolling through the seemingly endless rows of vines.

Guests can spend their days sipping the vineyard's syrah and Grenache blanc vintages, then spend their nights tucked away pond-side in an adorable vintage trailer. However, if that isn't enough activity, the Paso Robles-hidden away on California's Central Coast-is an area also known for adventure.
Visitors can go hiking on numerous trails, zip line with Margarita Adventures or head out on one of the many mountain bike trails that wind through the vanilla-colored hills.
For those looking to just pop in and visit Alta Colina for a tasting, walk-in hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily. Tasting fees are $10 for approximately five different wines. There is no fee when a total of two bottles are purchased. Pets on a leash are welcome, and there are two Tesla charging stations available on site.
If you are booking a stay at the Trailer Pond, there is a two-night minimum stay. Farm-to-trailer meals and group stays are also available at the pond.
