NYC & Company announced Wednesday that Manhattan's Flatiron District is once again open to visitors after a steam pipe explosion July 19 caused several business closures.
The Flatiron District stretches from 21st to 28th Streets and is bordered by Third and Sixth Avenues. For tourists, the area features more than 230 restaurants, bars, and casual food establishments.
The historic Manhattan district also offers free 90-minute walking tours every Sunday, which allow visitors to see landmarks such as the MetLife Clock Tower, Appellate Courthouse, the Flatiron Building and more.
"Despite the recent steam pipe incident, New York City's Flatiron has bounced back and is eager to welcome visitors and locals to one of the City's most beautiful neighborhoods," NYC & Company CEO Fred Dixon said in a statement. "Everyone can discover or rediscover the Flatiron's unparalleled offerings-from its iconic Flatiron Building to the beautiful Madison Square Park to many cultural, retail and restaurant offerings, including those partaking in NYC Restaurant Week this summer."
For travelers heading to Manhattan for NYC Restaurant Week 2018, the Flatiron neighborhood boasts 16 participating eateries, including Junoon, Park Avenue Summer, Scampi NYC, Obica, Zero Otto Nove, Eataly and more.
Flatiron will also help host the annual Summer Streets celebration (August 4, 11 and 18) and the Flatiron Summer Series through August 9, which offer travelers tech classes, fitness, and games throughout the neighborhood.
