Whether you're in your hometown or traveling out of state, picking a brunch spot is a lot of pressure because if you choose wrong, it can put a damper on your morning.
Now you never have to be faced with that decision again as OpenTable has released its annual list of the 100 Best Brunch Restaurants in America for 2019.
The list covers brunch spots in 24 states and Washington D.C., all of which were chosen from more than 12 million verified diner reviews in over 30,000 restaurants in the U.S. from March 1, 2018, to February 28, 2019.
California had the most (16 spots!) restaurants featured on the list, followed by New York with 12 and Illinois and Pennsylvania with eight each. Texas, Florida and Washington D.C. had seven winning brunch spots each and Louisiana had five.
Geoffrey's Restaurant in Malibu, California, made the list, as did Sadelle's in New York and Somerset in Chicago. In the South, Willa Jean in New Orleans was awarded a spot, as was Whiskey Cake in Plano, Texas.
The list comes out right before Mother's Day, a move intentionally made by OpenTable when they found out that 81 percent of people book their Mother's Day reservation two weeks in advance.
"On Mother's Day 2018, we seated more diners than any other day that year and recognize that celebrating mom is a priority for our diners," said Caroline Potter, Chief Dining Officer at OpenTable. "The honorees on this year's best brunch list are creating experiences that will dazzle her and make embracing our #DiningMode challenge a snap, with sublime drinks and dishes and friendly service. You won't be tempted to pick up your phone on May 12 at any of these spots."
