While the season can affect weather conditions as tropical storms and hurricanes pass through the region, according to the Atlantic hurricane database, Aruba has not been directly hit by a hurricane since the database's inception in 1851.
Plus, Aruba more than lives up to its title of "One Happy Island" with glorious beaches, natural pools, national parks, world-class resorts and charming city streets to explore.
Barbados

Located on the southeastern edge of the Lesser Antilles, Barbados benefits from a unique position in the region as most Atlantic storms typically curve northward before reaching the island.
This vibrant Caribbean destination rarely sees direct strikes, with the vast majority of hurricanes affecting Barbados having arrived between September and November.
Whether diving into the sea to snorkel with sea turtles, treating your taste buds to premier seafood or soaking in the unrivaled local culture, Barbados promises to wow visitors of all interests.
Bonaire

A part of the ABC Islands, Bonaire rewards travelers with a relatively safe setting outside of the Atlantic hurricane belt and those visiting during the summer shoulder season can take advantage of fewer crowds and discounted travel.
The same goes for the low season from September to November when demand remains down. Visitors capitalizing on this quieter period can also look forward to special events like Bonaire Dive Week 2026 running from September 26 to October 3, 2026.

Situated between Aruba and Bonaire, Curacao is a beloved Dutch Caribbean island destination located outside of the hurricane belt where visitors can lounge on sun-kissed beaches, explore unparalleled history and colonial charm in the capital of Willemstad and dive some of the world's most vibrant reefs.
Grenada

The southernmost of the Windward Islands in the West Indies, the "Spice Isle" of Grenada was heavily impacted by Hurricane Beryl in July 2024 but nonetheless enjoys a location just south of the typical peak latitude for Atlantic hurricane activity.
Undoubtedly a foodie standout, visitors to this destination can also explore mesmerizing waterfalls, lounge on the iconic Grand Anse Beach and even find inspiration in an underwater sculpture park.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines

Located just west of Barbados and north of Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines also carries a lower risk during hurricane season.
This unique Caribbean destination sees more rain this time of year compared to the drier early months of the year. Nonetheless, visitors will still be met by a tropical paradise, where they can tour charming Bequia—the second-largest island in the Grenadines—enjoy plenty of powdery white-sand beaches, snorkel colorful cays, hike volcanoes and much more.
Travelers can even celebrate with locals if they time their stay for late October during the archipelago's Independence Day festivities.
