Allianz Partners’ annual Top 10 Summer European Destinations review has found that European travel is expected to rise 55 percent from the summer of 2022 this summer, with London as the top destination in the region.
According to flight itineraries by those who purchase travel insurance plans through Allianz for travel dates between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the top destination with 25 percent of travelers heading to visit it is London.
The increase in demand for European trips has increased by 600 percent from 2021 to 2022; this new increase of 55 percent once more brings home the trend of post-pandemic bucket-list trips.
About 80 percent of Americans are heading to Europe for about seven days, while 11 percent are planning eight-day trips.
The top ten city destinations are as follows, in order from first to last: London, England; Paris, France; Dublin, Ireland; Rome, Italy; Reykjavik, Iceland; Edinburgh, Scotland; Athens, Greece; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Lisbon, Portugal; and Milan, Italy.
“Last year, we saw a major increase in American travel to Europe and this summer indicates even higher demand, so it’s more important than ever to plan for a busy summer travel season,” said Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners USA. “From booking your dream hotel room with incredible views, to locking down flight schedules, planning ahead is key, and so is considering travel insurance to protect your travel investment from covered trip cancellations, interruptions, delays and medical emergencies.”
