Looking for a place to welcome in the Year of the Rooster as the Lunar New Year draws close?

While there are significant celebrations around the world, the U.S. is known for several of its amazing celebrations that showcase the diverse cultures of its Asian population. Here are just a few that capture the spirit of these celebratory times.

San Francisco
The oldest Chinatown in the U.S. celebrates Lunar New Year with a festival and a parade that dates back to the 1860s. The celebration in San Francisco is one of the largest Lunar New Year celebrations in the world and dates back to the mid-1800s.

The Grand Parade is the culmination of a 15-day festival and will take place on Feb. 11. It is watched by more than three million people each year, beginning at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of 2nd and Market streets and wrapping up around 8 p.m. after weaving through Chinatown to Jackson and Kearney.

Los Angeles
L.A. is another U.S. city with a long history of Lunar New Year Celebrations. This year, on Feb. 5, the city will mark the 118th Chinese New Year parade and festival in Downtown's Chinatown. Traditional music acts and kung fu demonstrations will occupy the stage at Chinatown Central Plaza and there will be plenty of food trucks on hand with local Asian delicacies as well as a beer garden, face painting and storytelling and paper folding for the kiddos.

In nearby Monterey Park, crowds of between 50,000 and 100,000 people gather for Lunar New Year celebrations that include stage performances, exotic food, shopping, carnival games and rides, a lantern exhibit and more. This year's festival takes place Jan. 28-29.
