The Southeast Asian gem of Vietnam offers natural wonders that will leave travelers awe-struck. From the iconic towering limestone islands of Ha Long Bay to the lush jungles and caves of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, this country is a paradise for those who love to immerse themselves in nature.

To give you an idea of the variety of landscapes Vietnam offers, we are highlighting some of the country’s most breathtaking sights and experiences.

Hanoi

Though a bustling metropolis, Hanoi serves as the ideal starting point for exploring Vietnam’s natural wonders. Here you can find enough Vietnamese coffee to last you a lifetime and, with a cup in hand, explore all the city has to offer.

Don’t miss the city’s top tourist attraction: Train Street. Sit at one of the little cafes along the train tracks and watch the train zoom by — close enough that you could almost touch it.

Also, be sure to embark on a food tour through the city’s street food. The narrow streets of this city are bustling with Pho, Bahn Mi, spring rolls, and more.

Ha Long Bay

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay is known for its limestone islands that emerge from the area’s emerald waters.

The best way to explore this breathtaking area is via a traditional junk boat. As a pioneer in sustainable tourism Indochina Junk offers luxury cruises that protect the nature of this area while also giving guests a unique experience.

Most cruises in Ha Long Bay are too large to visit the less-explored areas of Ha Long Bay, and that’s what makes Indochina Junk shine. This line takes you to Bai Tu Long Bay for an unforgettable experience that ensures environmental protection and preservation of this natural wonder.

Enjoy kayaking through the bay and hidden caves, swimming in secluded coves, and relaxing on pristine beaches.

Ninh Binh

This region of Vietnam is often referred to as “Ha Long Bay on land.” It offers a blend of stunning landscapes, ancient temples, and serenity.

The Trang-An complex is a must-see. Here you can embark on a scenic and relaxing private boat tour through a network of caves and rivers. Sit back, relax, and take in the stunning limestone formations, lush rice paddies, and ancient temples along the way.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park

If you’re in search of adventure and natural wonders that will make your jaw drop, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park must be on your Vietnam itinerary.

Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, this national park is famous for its vast network of underground caves. However, not many tourists make the journey to see them, as the area is a bit remote. The beautiful village of Phong Nha feels like it is yet to be discovered, which makes the experience here even better.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is home to the world’s biggest cave, Hang Son Doong, which has put this area on the map in recent years. The cave is so large that it has its own climate! However, it requires a 6-day, 5-night expedition that is only open to 1,000 people per year and costs upwards of $3,000 USD.

But countless other spectacular caves are more accessible to travelers looking for a unique and remote experience. Oxalis Adventure offers incredible guided tours (both group and private) that take you through the dream-like caves and underground rivers of Phong Nha.

Hoi An

Many people know Hoi An for its ancient architecture that has stood the test of time. The Ancient Town served as a trading port from the 15th to 19th century and still stands strong today, with many new additions built around it.

However, Hoi An also offers stunning natural beauty.

Enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the Thu Bon River to take in the scenic views and experience Vietnam through the eyes of a local. Also, make your way to Cua Dai Beach for a relaxing day by the sea.

For a bit more of the city experience, be sure to check out the Hoi An Night Market and the local tailors. This city is well-known for its high-quality custom-made suits that can be turned around within a day or two.

Da Nang

This bustling coastal city offers a variety of natural attractions. First is the Marble Mountains, five marble peaks featuring temples and pagodas atop their summits. Climb to the top to enjoy panoramic views of the city and the coastline.

If you’re looking for a bit more adventure, hike through Bach Ma National Park. This park is home to diverse flora and fauna, including the endangered Langur monkey.

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Though more of a bustling city than a hub for nature, there is certainly nature to enjoy in Ho Chi Minh City. With a population of about 10 million, this is the biggest city in Vietnam, which means there is no shortage of things to do and see.

Consider a day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels, the vast underground network used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Here you can learn about the history of this fascinating area and even have the opportunity to experience the underground tunnels yourself.

For a more relaxing experience, visit the Can Gio Mangrove Forest, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a boat tour through the mangroves and take in all of the beautiful, diverse wildlife of the area.

This Southeast Asian country has something to offer every traveler. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or culture, Vietnam’s natural wonders will leave you inspired and craving even more exploration of this incredible and unique destination.
