Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves (pictured above, Splash News, splashnews.com) took a historic tour of Rome, Italy on Sunday, Jan. 26, with two of their children, Levi and Vida.
Matthew, who is expected to win the best actor Academy Award for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, took some well-deserved time out from walking red carpets and giving acceptance speeches to treat his family to some much needed R and R.
The family, which also includes 13-month-old son Livingston, was spotted visiting the iconic Colosseum -- the largest ampitheatre in the world. It's nearly 2,000 years old!
The 44-year-old actor looked extremely interested in the history attached to the building and -- in a few photos -- could be seen pointing out various things to his son, Levi. (How cute!)
Afterwards, Matthew made time to take Camila, 31, out for dinner. (See all the photos here.)
Thus far, Matthew has won Best Actor prizes at the Golden Globes, the Critics' Choice Awards and the SAG Awards for his portrayal of AIDS patient Ron Woodroff in Dallas Buyers Club.
What do you think of Matthew's trip to Rome with his family? Have you ever visited the historic city? If so, tell us about your experience! And do you think Matthew will take home the gold on March 2?
