With Halloween approaching fast, travelers are looking to find the most technologically advanced and creative haunted houses in the United States.

Thanks to a list compiled by America Haunts, an industry leader in Halloween haunted attractions, people seeking the scariest locations this year will have the chance to visit several technological masterpieces of Halloween horror.

One of the top haunted houses this year is the Bates Motel in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, which offers guests a plethora of pyrotechnics, an incredibly detailed hayride and a Bates Motel haunted house that will haunt your nightmares.

Another top destination is The Asylum in Denver. This attraction starts off as a simple haunted house tour, but turns into an escape room that makes guests feel truly trapped. At Netherworld in Atlanta, every animatronic is strategically designed for its intended space with three-dimensional clowns sure to scare even the most seasoned haunted house veterans.

"We are talking high budget 4D, virtual reality sets combined with actors and artists whose scare tactics, costuming and makeup set the trends in Hollywood," America Haunts' Amber Arnett-Bequeaith said in a statement. "If you haven't been inside a haunted house in a while, you just might implode from fright. If it's been just one year since your last visit, you will be impressed at how haunt owners intensify their attractions literally every year."

"The best technology is that which looks real. Every generation becomes more tech-savvy, it takes a lot to scare, but we succeed every time," Arnett-Bequeaith continued.

For travelers looking to stay on the east coast, Spookywoods in Greensboro, North Carolina, allows guests to use laser weapons to shoot the characters that jump out and scare people during their time visiting. If you don't shoot them in time, though, you become infected with a deadly virus.

Tourists looking for a thrill in the Midwest should check out The Dent Schoolhouse in Cincinnati, which weaves a story through its haunted attractions about a killer janitor that is attacking locals and guests alike.

Regardless of where you end up visiting on Halloween, have yourself a frightful night!
