Tokyo Disney is offering a sneak peek of the massive expansion it will unveil in 2020, including a look at its upcoming attraction Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast.
In a multi-media release from Tokyo Disney, several details were revealed about its ongoing expansion efforts, which began in April 2017, and are said to include everything from new attractions, to entertainment, shopping and new dining at the Japan park.
Part of the expansion includes the brand-new attraction, Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast. The sneak peek video focuses on the concept behind the ride, which invites guests into the animated film aboard ride vehicles that dance in rhythm to the film's music.
"Enchanted tale of beauty and the beast is a unique ride attraction that really immerses guests in that story and we're doing it in a brand-new way that's never been done before," Ted Robledo, executive creative director Walt Disney Imagineering, says during the video preview.
"We've got a lot of exciting work done so far on this project," Robledo added, noting that environmental work, plasterwork, and sculpting are all well underway, with the goal of bringing the Beauty and the Beast story to life in an immersive way for guests.
This will be the first ride-through attraction of Beauty and the Beast anywhere in the world. It's also the first time that Belle or The Beast are being brought to life with audio-animatronics. There will also be many other animated figures and props in the ride.
Tokyo Disney resort also announced some names of nearby attractions and entertainment offerings that will be added to the park.
The Beast's castle, for example, will serve as the centerpiece of the new area coming to Fantasyland at Tokyo Disneyland. It will reach 98 feet high and house the new attraction.
Guests will be able to visit Village Shoppes and La Taverne de Gaston nearby, which are designed to make visitors feel like they've stepped right into Belle's village.
A new Fantasyland Forest Theatre is also part of the expansion and will feature signature Disney entertainment in a dedicated indoor performance space.
Finally, guests will also be able to enjoy live productions featuring Disney characters and music in a 1,500-seat storybook theater, as part of the expansion project.
