The Universal Orlando Resort already had a stellar 2017, but two major category victories at the 2018 Travvy Awards was a great way to start yet another year for the theme park.
Not only was Universal Orlando awarded the gold Travvy statuette in the Best Overall Theme Park category, but the company also earned the top prize in the Best Overall Water Park category for Volcano Bay.
"We are honored to be recognized as the 2018 Travvy award winners for Best Theme Park and Best Water Park," Universal Orlando Director of Travel Industry Sales Robyn Ryan said in a statement. "We're constantly adding new and thrilling experiences so that travel agents always have fresh suggestions for clients who want to have an epic vacation."
"Last year we introduced our third incredible theme park, Universal's Volcano Bay, which has been incredibly well received by our guests," Ryan continued. "And this year there's no slowing down for us as we gear up to grand open our newest attraction, Fast & Furious - Supercharged, followed by our sixth on-site hotel, Universal's Aventura Hotel. We continue to grow and innovate so that we can provide our guests with an award-winning vacation destination like no other."
As great as 2017 was for Universal Orlando, the theme park is looking forward to following it up with a successful 2018. Set to open this spring, Voodoo Doughnut will debut at Universal CityWalk, the theme park's entertainment and dining complex.
In addition, Universal officials announced the newly-redesigned Future Rock Star Suites at the park's Hard Rock Hotel are focused on enticing tweens, teens and any kid who ever dreamed of performing on stage.
The Travvy Awards are the Oscars of the travel industry. The ceremony honors dozens of brands across a variety of categories, including destinations, hotels and resorts, cruise lines, tour operators and car rental brands.
