On Monday, Universal Studios Japan announced that it will be building an attraction dubbed Super Nintendo World, which is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Nintendo attraction will feature the iconic characters and game worlds from the company, and while Universal Studios Japan will be the first to open its themed facility, other Nintendo areas will be coming to Orlando and Hollywood.
Nintendo of America released the news on Twitter:
According to Universal Japan, Super Nintendo World will consist of expansive and multi-level environments filled with state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants themed after popular characters and games.
In total, Universal Japan expects the construction of Super Nintendo World-which will be located on a piece of property currently used as a parking lot-is expected to cost at least 50 billion Yen or around $433 million.
Thus far, officials have announced that Super Nintendo World will feature characters from the "Super Mario" series and many other memorable Nintendo names. The characters and worlds will be implemented into the design of the park by Nintendo Creative Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto and President of Universal Creative Mark Woodbury.
