Universal’s Super Nintendo World in Japan is getting a new Donkey Kong-inspired land, opening this December 11, 2024.
A new video showcases gaming legend Shigeru Miyamoto as he walks through the new world, called Donkey Kong Country, which is accessible by a tunnel that brings the world of Donkey Kong to life with plenty of jungle-inspired decor and barrels.
According to Gizmodo, the world will feature Donkey Kong’s house, a shop inspired by Funky Kong, a Donkey Konga-inspired music rhythm game, the Golden Temple ride, an expansion of the park’s NFC wristbands to collect hidden letters throughout the park and plenty of themed food.
While Donkey Kong Country will be available for travelers and residents of Japan, will it be added to other parks?
Yes! Universal’s Epic Universe park expansion in Orlando will feature it when it opens May 22, 2025.
