This fall, Westa (Western Association of Travel Agencies), the member-owned travel agency consortium, introduces a new, two-day training and networking program for its member agents. The new program, which replaces a previous one-day program, allows for more in-depth program training, as well as additional sales and education training and vendor presentations.
"Westa has always set itself apart in terms of presenting higher quality, more geographically accessible programs and this new format takes that a step further, allowing us to adopt a more relaxed pace that will pave the way for even better, more valuable networking between agents and vendors," said Mike Estill, chief operating officer.
"The new program, called the WESTA Travel Professional Conference, essentially doubles the amount of time we previously allotted for training and education. It has the added benefit of bringing agents and vendors together earlier in the sales cycle, making it more relevant from both a sales and operational standpoint," added Estill. "It's advantageous for both."
Westa agents enthusiastically embraced the format revisions. "My staff is extremely excited about the new conference format. As our industry becomes more complex and dynamic every year, the expanded educational content will help ensure my agents stay informed on important industry topics," said Linda Schwedock, owner of Pacific Harbor Travel in Santa Cruz, CA.
