WHY IT RATES: As part of its anniversary, Bequia Beach Hotel is debuting a new villa, luxe superyacht programming and a special commission for agents throughout the year.-Mia Taylor, TravelPulse Senior Writer

Bequia Beach Hotel, a family-owned upscale resort on the idyllic island of Bequia in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, kicks off its milestone 10th anniversary year with new offerings and experiences.

Bequia Beach Hotel announces the debut of a new four-bedroom villa, ultra-luxurious superyacht programming, and a new executive chef who will lead the resort's culinary team. As part of a year-long celebration, a special 15 percent commission incentive will be applied to travel agent bookings throughout 2019.

Star of The Sea

New for the 2019 season, Bequia Beach Hotel guests have luxury at their fingertips with Star of the Sea, the property's 114-foot Italian-built superyacht. Star of the Sea can accommodate up to 12 guests for private charters, and up to 50 guests for events such as cocktail parties and 20 for sunset cruises.

Star of the Sea boasts ample space and amenities that provide her charter guests the highest level of comfort.

Six sleeping cabins feature beds ranging in size from a king in the Master to twins. A top deck jacuzzi is surrounded by plush lounge chairs that are perfect for catching mid-afternoon rays.

The retro-styled interior includes a large mahogany paneled saloon and adjoining dining area on the main deck where guests can enjoy island-inspired decadent meals prepared by the yacht's full-time professional chef. Upstairs, there's an additional lounge for cocktails and the vessel's entertainment system with an extensive film collection, gaming console, surround sound system, and a 42-inch flat-screen TV.

Star of the Sea is currently available for weeklong charters/ rentals to the neighboring Mustique and Tobago Cays. Day rentals begin at $6,500, and three-night charters are from $18,000.

Beginning in March, Star of the Sea will charter sunset sails around the tip of Bequia and through Admiralty Bay. Preferred rates that are exclusive to Bequia Beach Hotel guests are $135 for adults and $65 for guests under 18. Complimentary refreshments including rum punch and light bites will be served. Contact reservations for cruising schedules and to book.

New Resort Accommodations

The Palm Villa is Bequia Beach Hotel's newest luxury accommodation. Featuring four bedrooms, a separate living room, and kitchen, this private villa has its own large swimming pool and sundeck, and is set back in lush gardens ensuring total privacy. Rates start at $750 per night based on double occupancy, including full breakfast.

Increased Air Access

The island of Bequia is reached from North America via Barbados or St Lucia, with daily connections to London, New York, Toronto, Miami etc. SVG Air operates scheduled shared and private charters to Bequia - all bookable via the hotel.

American Airlines announced nonstop flights from Miami to St. Vincent; Caribbean Airlines flies direct from New York; Air Canada has seasonal direct service from Toronto to St. Vincent.

Culinary Team Expansion

Chef Nils-Bertil Hansson recently joined Bequia Beach Hotel as Executive Chef. A seasoned Swedish culinarian, Hansson oversees the hotel's dining venues, including signature beachside restaurant, Bagatelle. Hansson works hand-in-hand with the resort's talented locally trained chefs to infuse new techniques that complement their skills, passion, and creativity.

Bagatelle serves breakfast, lunch and dinner within an open beachfront setting that offers sweeping Grenadine views, and warm ocean breezes.

The menu showcases internationally inspired cuisine with Caribbean influences. Island flavors are spotlighted using the highest quality food products. Bagatelle's signature dishes include Lobster Thermidor with Gratin Christophine, and Tuna Tartare on a bed of avocado cream.

Bequia Beach Hotel's owner, Bengt Mortstedt, discovered the island of Bequia in the early 1990s during a sailing trip. Years later Bengt returned, on the hunt to build a summer home for his family in London.

Stumbling upon a "for sale" sign on a property that was formerly known as "Blue Tropic," Bengt's vision for a villa quickly transformed into a larger dream: to build a resort. Now, ten years later, Bengt's passion project is a staple resort on the island that continues to expand each year, hosting guests from around the world.
