If his hotel choice is any indicator, Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez won't be voting for Donald Trump this November.

According to Dodgers beat writer JP Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group, the Mexican-American infielder refused to stay with the rest of the team at the five-star Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago during a four-game road series against the Chicago Cubs back in May.

"I didn't stay there," Gonzalez said. "I had my reasons."

While Gonzalez declined to go into detail, instead telling reporters "we're here to play baseball not talk politics," it's seemingly apparent that Gonzalez disgarees with the hotel owner's policies and opinions.

The 34-year-old was born in San Diego, but grew up in Mexico and represented the country in three World Baseball Classics. His father owns a business there and he recently helped refurbish a sports complex in Tijuana, per Hoornstra.

Meanwhile, the controversial Republican presidential candidate has been critical of Mexican immigrants throughout his campaign, even promising to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Gonzalez and the Dodgers opened up their National League Championship Series with the Cubs this past weekend in the Windy City. However the team did not stay at the Trump hotel because it requires a non-refundable deposit to hold a block of rooms and it wasn't known until Thursday night that L.A. would be moving on to face Chicago.

The team has been staying at the Trump International Hotel and Tower for years.

Gonzalez's decision to avoid Trump's hotel highlights a larger concern for the Trump brand, which has taken several major hits over the course of Trump's campaign. New York Magazine reported last week that room prices at Trump's new Washington, D.C. hotel have dropped off considerably of late, with a deluxe room available for half the normal rate.
