The historic Knickerbocker Hotel in New York City will transform into a luxury lifestyle hotel when it opens its doors on Feb. 12, 2015.

The 330-room property, originally opened in 1906 by John Jacob Astor IV, promises a fusion of "contemporary fashion, flavors, fitness and finesse" upon its rebirth on the corner of 42nd St. and Broadway, while still staying true to its roots.

"The Knickerbocker will epitomize classic-reinvented," said Jeff David, managing director of The Knickerbocker, via a press release. "We're embracing the hotel's original DNA, while simultaneously offering guests intuitive service and relevant luxury. The Knickerbocker's history is something that most luxury hotels cannot offer-no matter how strong the brand or address. By drawing inspiration from our past to create a lifestyle experience that is beyond typical luxury hotel amenities, The Knickerbocker will undoubtedly appeal to both local New Yorkers and international travelers."

A member of "The Leading Hotels of the World," The Knickerbocker claims to have been the first hotel to offer a multidimensional lifestyle experience. It is also rumored to have been the birthplace of the original martini.

When guests enter the hotel on Feb. 12, they will find a contemporary design and layout, bespoke furnishings, state-of-the-art technologies, luxurious bath amenities, in-room salon services from celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson and a variety of exquisite restaurants, cafes, bars and, yes, a cigar lounge.

Master Chef Charlie Palmer has partnered with the new-look Knickerbocker. Guests can dine at the hotel's full-service restaurant and bar, Charlie Palmer at the Knick. There's also JAKES @ The Knick (a coffeehouse and artisanal café) and St. Cloud, a rooftop bar overlooking Times Square complete with a signature cigar lounge from well-known tobacconist Nat Sherman.

Guests at The Knickerbocker will also receive priority access and preferential treatment at Palmer's flagship restaurant across the street, Aureole.

The Knickerbocker will feature 27 Junior Suites and four Signature Suites.
