Brookfield Asset Management has confirmed the appointment of Paul Burke to president and managing director of Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in The Bahamas.
According to a press release from the resort, Burke's promotion is effective immediately.
The hospitality industry veteran joined Atlantis back in 2011 as a chief operating officer. Now, in his new role, Burke will oversee the resort's "business development, initiatives, growth, and overall operations."
"My new position at Atlantis is something I have worked towards my entire career, and all of my previous professional experience has prepared me for this role," said Burke in a statement. "I am very thankful for this fantastic opportunity."
In addition to boasting more than three decades of experience as a senior executive in the industry, Burke has proven himself in just a short period of time at Atlantis.
"We are pleased to have Paul transition into his new role with Atlantis," said Brookfield Managing Partner Andrea Balkan in a statement. "Paul has a deep and varied background in the hospitality industry, including serving as the Chief Operating Officer at Atlantis."
"Paul is fully immersed in the Atlantis culture, and we are confident he and his veteran team will work to maintain the resort as a world-class destination," she added.
On top of having made a handful of notable contributions from an operational standpoint, Burke has been credited with helping maintain a high level of guest satisfaction at the Caribbean resort.
The appointment to president and managing director will allow him to have more influence and ultimately build on his success at Atlantis.
