Brazil is launching an e-Visa program that will help streamline previous visa issues and jumpstart tourism to the South American nation.
The new program, which was announced via a press release given exclusively to USTOA members at its recent conference, will go live and facilitate travel plans for the following countries:
-Australia (November 21st, 2017) - in full operation since November of 2017
-Japan (January 11th, 2018)
-Canada (January 18th, 2018)
-USA (January 25th, 2018)
The initiative taken by the Brazilian Government eases the process of obtaining a Brazilian visa, making the consular services more efficient. Travelers will be able to request and obtain an e-Visa remotely from their home or office by simply going online to vfsglobal.com/brazil-evisa.
On the way out, one simply presents to the airline a printed, electronic or digitalized copy of the e-Visa for travel authorization.
Upon arrival to Brazil, the traveler then shows the e-Visa to the Federal Police-who are now integrated with the system-and will be granted automatic access to the nation. Brazil is working on having electronic e-gates at a later stage, such as APC or Global Entry Systems, which are currently only available to Brazilian citizens.
The e-Visa will cost $40 U.S. and is valid for two years, thereby reducing the cost of travel to Brazil and making visa application far more efficient: Within 72 hours of accessing the visa application, you will be able to travel to Brazil.
Travelers who still wish to visit the Embassy and Consulate can do so, where traditional visa applications will still continue.
