Another powerful winter storm is hampering travel across the United States.Strong, prolonged winds gusting up to as much as 40 to 60 mph in parts of the Midwest and portions of the East are causing headaches for travelers on Friday, with flight cancellations in the U.S. nearing 2,000 and delays totaling over 3,500 as of 1 p.m. ET.
According to the latest data from flight-tracking website FlightAware.com, Chicago's O'Hare and Midway Airports have been heavily impacted, with the latter canceling well over half of its scheduled flights on Friday.
Other affected airports include Denver, Milwaukee and Dallas/Fort Worth. In addition to air travel, road trippers venturing out this weekend are facing challenges associated with blizzard conditions in parts of the Midwest as the winds are being accompanied by heavy rains and snowfall in some areas. As always, travelers are encouraged to check their flight status with their airline before arriving to the airport.
