Much like a crying baby or a seat-reclining neighbor, a barking dog with a stubborn owner is an unwelcome addition to any flight.
Fortunately for passengers aboard one Chicago-bound United Express flight, the flight crew wasn't having any of it.
In a two-minute video posted to YouTube last week, a female passenger is seen being confronted by police after the flight returned to the gate in Salt Lake City Friday night.
In subtitles, YouTube user MrAdownie said the woman's dog had been "growling and snapping at the crew," and when she was asked to put the pet in its carrier, she refused, instead calling the flight attendant an offensive name.
Shortly thereafter, the police officer informed the woman that the captain requested she be removed from the plane along with her dog.
"I want my money back before I get off this plane," said the woman, who had to be physically removed from the flight by a pair of officers.
At one point, she can be heard shouting, "if you take my dog, I'm going to sue this country."
In a statement issued after the incident, United Airlines confirmed the woman's removal and said the flight eventually took off for Chicago.
"SkyWest flight 6227, operating as United Express from Salt Lake City to Chicago, returned to the gate after a passenger refused to comply with safety rules regarding in-flight transportation of pets," a United spokesperson said in a statement to the Daily Mail. "The passenger was removed by local law enforcement, and the flight continued to Chicago."
